Debts we cannot resolve
Unfortunately, there are some debts we cannot resolve for you. You must start to pay these debts again when the debt pause ends. Even if you have been affected.
Government debts we do not resolve
You must yourself pay government debts incurred before 1 January 2006 or from 1 January 2021. The organisations where you have debts will contact you when the debt pause ends. Do you need help paying these debts? If so, contact the organisation yourself. They can help you with a payment schedule, for example.
Government debts that do not meet the conditions
There are also some government debts that arose between 1 January 2006 and 1 January 2021 that cannot be resolved. This is then because the debts do not meet the conditions. This is the case for a criminal fine, for example, or a debt incurred due to serious abuse. You also have to pay these debts yourself.
Company debts we do not resolve
You must always yourself pay debts to companies incurred from 1 June 2021. Even if you did not have to pay these debts temporarily because they were paused. Companies where you have debts will contact you. You can often repay the debt in instalments.
Debts with companies that do not meet the conditions
Sociale Banken Nederland (SBN) also sometimes rejects debts that arose between 1 January 2006 and 1 June 2021. This is because the debts do not meet the conditions. In the absence of evidence, for example, or if it is a principal or debt owed to a family member.

- Do you have debts with other government organisations, such as UWV and DUO? If so, contact these organisations and ask for a debt statement.
- Do you have debts with companies? The Schuldenwijzer website (Dutch) lists debts known to bailiffs. If you have other debts with companies, they do not appear in this list. In that case, contact the companies directly and ask for a debt statement.
